Jim Johnson is an elderly priest who is the Rugged Island equivalent of Jack Hackett. Although Jim looks relatively normal compared to Jack, his personality and alcoholic habits are much the same. He was portrayed by the late Irish actor Chris Curran.
Biography[]
He lives in the island's parochial house with Dick Byrne, Cyril MacDuff and their unnamed housekeeper.
He is first seen in the Series 1 episode "Competition Time" as a member of girl group The Supremes along with Dick Byrne and Cyril MacDuff as they enter a Stars in their Eyes competition.
His second and final appearance is in the Series 2 episode "Cigarettes and Alcohol and Rollerblading" when the Rugged Island priests pledge to give up their vices, only to have lied about doing so. They get their comeuppance when Sister Assumpta is sent to Rugged Island to punish them after Ted and Dougal discovered that they had broken their vows.

- The character does not appear at all in the final series as actor Chris Curran died in 1996, just three months after Series 2 finished airing. It was his last role as an actor.
